NSTAR Names New Head of Human Resources

BOSTON--(Business Wire)--
NSTAR Electric & Gas is pleased to announce the appointment of
Christine Carmody as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Carmody
is currently the Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness at
NSTAR and is in charge of acquiring, developing and retaining diverse,
quality talent for the company. In her new role Carmody will lead all
of NSTAR's Human Resources operations including Employee and Labor
Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Human Resources Information
Systems, Safety, Security, Health Services, Organizational
Effectiveness, Staffing, Technology Training and Diversity.

   Since joining NSTAR in 1996, Carmody has held positions of
increasing responsibility in human resources. She developed and
implemented a corporate integration strategy following the merger of
Boston Edison and ComEnergy. The plan focused on engaging employees in
the new company's business direction to improve customer satisfaction
and company performance.

   Carmody has also worked as an independent consultant specializing
in leadership development, coaching and organizational change in the
telecommunications, healthcare and utility industries. Prior to
joining NSTAR, Carmody held human resource positions at Talbot's and
Bradlees, Inc.

   Carmody holds a master's degree in business administration from
Anna Maria College, and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the
College of the Holy Cross.

   NSTAR is the largest Massachusetts-based, investor-owned electric

natural gas to 1.4 million customers in Eastern and Central
Massachusetts, including more than one million electric customers in
