Finch, the University of Arizona three-time All-American, will work
closely with Gogie Girl and their creative department to design a "Jennie"
line of hats and visors that will go to retail in the coming months. The
headwear will incorporate Finch's trademarked logo and personal color choices
that will target not only the estimated 4.5 million female Americans who play
softball a year, but the 43% of professional baseball fans who are women.
"I am so excited to be working with Gogie Girl. The hats and visors are
top of the line and truly speak to the needs for female athletes and even to
the women on the go who are looking for style, comfort and fit," said Finch,
the ace right-handed pitcher of the Olympic Gold Medal winning team from the
2004 Athens Games. "I am thrilled to work with Gogie Girl in creating the
'Jennie Finch' line and can't wait to get started!"
More than just familiar with being a champion, Finch is a two-time gold
medal winner of the Pan American Games (2003, 2007), holds two World Cup
titles ('06, '07), and two world championship titles ('02, '06).
Finch's off-field accolades are second to none with ESPY Award wins, being
named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People, and appearances on
the hit television show NBC's Celebrity Apprentice and Fox Sports Network's
Emmy nominated series Sports Science.
"By Jennie joining the elite group of Gogie Girl athletes, including
Annika Sorenstam and Nicole Branagh, Gogie continues to position itself as the
leader in women's sports headwear," said John Gilmore, CEO of Gogie Girl.
"Jennie allows for Gogie to tap into yet another successful sports market
through her world-wide distribution and fan base."
Finch joins Nicole Branagh of the U.S. Women's Beach Volleyball Team and
AVP as Gogie Girl athletes heading to Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.
Branagh is making her Olympic debut in Beijing as one of two USA Beach
Volleyball teams. Her team recently captured a silver medal at the SWATCH FIVB
World Tour Grand Slam event in Moscow and a bronze medal at the Henkel Grand
Chelem in Paris, also a Grand Slam event on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour.
"It is quite an honor for Gogie Girl to be a part of the American spirit
represented at the Olympics in Beijing by these two highly respected
athletes," said Vicky Waldorf, co-founder of Gogie Girl.
Gogie Girl designed special hats and visors for the families of Finch and
Branagh to help them capture the Summer Games spirit and honor the Olympians
in their family. In the red, white and blue colors, Gogie created "Team Finch"
hats for the two-time softball Olympian, and "I HEART BY" hats for Branagh and
her beach volleyball partner Elaine Youngs, a slogan that can be found in the
stands at each tournament they play in.
