Robert L. Boughner Elected as Director of Southwest Gas Corporation

LAS VEGAS, July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southwest Gas Corporation
(NYSE: SWX) announced that Robert L. Boughner was elected as a member of the
Board of Directors of the Company on July 29, 2008. Mr. Boughner, 55, will
serve on the Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees
of the Board.
Mr. Boughner has been with Boyd Gaming Corporation since 1976 and has
served in a variety of senior executive positions, including general manager
of various properties, Senior Vice President of Administration, and Chief
Operating Officer. Mr. Boughner is currently President and Chief Executive
Officer of Echelon Resorts (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boyd Gaming) and a
Director of Boyd Gaming Corporation.
Mr. Boughner is active in civic and gaming industry affairs. He served
two terms on the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors
Authority and serves on the Board of Bank of Nevada. In 2007, Mr. Boughner
and the Harrah Hotel College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
established the Bob Boughner Career Services Center to assist students in the
pursuit of employment in the hospitality, tourism, and gaming industry.
