Freedom Team Salute to Honor Over 175 Veterans at Special Ceremony
TACOMA, Wash.--(Business Wire)--
U.S. Army nurses are the foundation in the provision of medical
services for our Soldiers in peace time and war. In recognition of
their contributions, the Army's Freedom Team Salute Program will honor
over 175 retired Army nurses with Freedom Team Salute Commendations
here in Tacoma today in conjunction with the Army Nurse Corps
Association's Annual Reunion and Convention. It is the first time that
the organization's members have been recognized by Freedom Team
Salute.

"It was an honor to be able to serve my country to help other
Soldiers recuperate and heal from a variety of injuries they received
while defending our nation," said Colonel (ret) Nickey McCasland.
"Freedom Team Salute is a testament to the Army's commitment to
continually reach out and recognize all Veterans who served and the
sacrifices they made for this country."

"Nurses provide an invaluable service to the Army," said Colonel
David Griffith, Director of Freedom Team Salute. "There are thousands
of retired Army nurses living in the United States and other places
around the world. It is our goal to identify and honor as many
Veterans as possible by working through the Army Nurse Corps
Association and its members."

Originally established in 1977 as the Retired Army Nurse Corps
Association, ANCA is a voluntary organization of, by, and for United
States Army Nurse Corps officers. ANCA is dedicated to bringing Army
nurses together in a social setting and supporting the goals of the
Corps by providing events, speakers, continuing education
opportunities, and intellectual communication for and among its
members.

Freedom Team Salute is a U.S. Army program launched in May, 2005,
by the Secretary of the Army and Army Chief of Staff to give the
public the opportunity to thank Army Veterans for their service by
recognizing them with Commendations. The program also provides the
opportunity for Soldiers to thank Parents, a Spouse, Employers, and
individual Supporters who make significant contributions to Soldiers
and the Army mission. Freedom Team Salute has honored more than 1.3
million individuals over the past 3 years. For more information on
