Main Stage Presentation "Driving Agile Transformation from the Top
Down" and Borland(R) Management Solutions Demos Provide Insight Into
Agile Adoption for Enterprise Software Delivery Organizations
TORONTO--(Business Wire)--
Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ:BORL) www.borland.com, the
global leader in Open Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), today
announced Pete Morowski, Borland's senior vice president of research
and development, will give a presentation entitled "Driving Agile
Transformation from the Top Down" at the Agile 2008 conference this
week. The company will also be showcasing Borland(R) Management
Solutions (BMS), introduced in July 2008 to support enterprises making
transitions to more Agile delivery methods.

According to independent analyst firm Forrester, Agile adoption
increased 53 percent between 2006 and 2007. Forrester has found that
larger enterprises are more likely to adopt Agile than smaller
enterprises, and the majority of enterprises that are aware of Agile
are interested in adopting it or already planning to adopt it.

"As enterprises embrace Agile practices within complex,
heterogeneous environments, communication and visibility become
increasingly difficult. For some, it can feel like a loss of control,"
said Rick Jackson, Borland's CMO and senior vice president of
corporate strategy. "To realize the benefits - greater cost
efficiency, customer responsiveness and a competitive edge -
enterprises require new management practices, techniques and tools to
guide and manage the organizational shift. Borland brings significant
expertise in creating and leveraging the tools that provide the
automation, control and measurement to support this type of enterprise
transformation."

Borland's Agile Journey - An Executive Perspective on Enterprise
Transformation

Two years ago, Borland's executive team made the decision to
transition its globally distributed development organization to Agile
as part of an effort to reduce development costs, boost efficiency and
quality, and introduce more operational oversight. Today, Borland is
in "the thick" of its transformation - close to 60 percent of its
teams are Agile. Through this transformation, Borland has increased
the productivity and morale of its teams, forged deeper relationships
with its most valuable customers and has become a more adaptive,
responsive and predictable delivery organization.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 9:15 AM ET, Pete Morowski,
Borland's senior vice president of research and development, is
scheduled to present "Driving Agile Transformation from the Top Down,"
on Agile 2008's Main Stage (Grand Ballroom West). In this presentation
Morowski will share what he's learned through Borland's transformation
with his peers in corporate IT and ISVs. Morowski will draw on his
experiences leading an established, multi-project development
organization in an Agile transformation, and help map the territory
for other IT executives who may seek to make a similar journey.

Project Management, Execution and Measurement for Agile in the
Enterprise

In booth 800, Borland will be demonstrating Borland Management
Solutions, three products and a set of service packages that enable
customers to better track, measure, predict and improve the
performance of their software delivery organizations. Borland's own
Agile development team members will be showcasing Borland
TeamFocus(R), an enterprise project management and execution
environment that supports multiple delivery methods - Agile, waterfall
and iterative - and rolls up monitored project progress information
across the portfolio of projects. TeamFocus supports enterprises in
their transition to more Agile delivery methods by providing
visibility, execution, support and progress monitoring.

With customizable role-based views, TeamFocus empowers teams to do
work on their terms while giving management real-time visibility into
their progress. TeamFocus sits on top of traditional ALM tools,
providing Agile teams a familiar environment to plan releases and
sprints, manage backlogs and user stories, and collaborate with
burndown charts and corkboards.

From an organizational perspective, TeamFocus gives management a
"roll up" of all projects so that they have visibility into the status
of the entire portfolio - whether it consists of Agile, traditional or
a combination of methodologies - without disturbing the progress of
the teams. Because TeamFocus links directly to the existing ALM
environment to monitor actual day-to-day progress in real time, its
dashboards include in-flight metrics that keep teams and management on
the same page, without sacrificing production work for reporting
overhead.

Borland Management Solutions, including TeamFocus, are expected to
be generally available in Fall 2008. To see a demonstration of Borland
TeamFocus, visit Borland at booth 800 or click here to see an online
demo.
