Sonoco to Increase Prices for Uncoated Recycled Paperboard Products

HARTSVILLE, S.C.--(Business Wire)--
Sonoco (NYSE: SON), one of the largest diversified global
packaging companies, will implement a $50 per ton price increase for
all uncoated recycled paperboard products in the United States and
Canada, it was announced today by James Harrell, division vice
president and general manager, Paper North America.

   The price increase will become effective with shipments on and
after September 1, 2008. In most cases, the price increase will take
the place of a previously announced energy surcharge that went into
effect on July 14, 2008.
