U.S. Government's Joint Interoperability Test Command approves Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6850 Enterprise Switch Family and 9700 Enterprise Switch

VIENNA, Va.--(Business Wire)--
LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) dedicated to
serving the U.S. government community, announced today that the
Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6850 and 9700 were certified as
interoperable with the Defense Switched Network (DSN) by the U.S.
Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC)
and the Defense Information System Network Security Accreditation
Working Group (DSAWG).

As a result, these products have been added to the DoD Unified
Capabilities Approved Products List (UCAPL), which includes the
Defense Switched Network (DSN) Approved Products List, as well as the
IPv6 Approved Products List. This certification demonstrates the
continued commitment of LGS and Alcatel-Lucent to deliver products and
services designed to fit the unique needs of the U.S. government
customer.

The JITC-certified elements for the OmniSwitch included:

-- The OmniSwitch 6850 Family of Enterprise Ethernet Switches:
        The Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6850 (OS6850) series is
comprised of layer-3 Gigabit Ethernet fixed configuration
switches that address the needs of modern enterprise and
        triple-play networking with flexible, stackable
        configurations; power-over-Ethernet, high availability,
first-packet wire-speed performance, and dramatically improved
network response time over past models. In a recent industry
review(1) of major LAN switch vendors, the OmniSwitch 6850 was
recognized as using the lowest power consumption, winning
        'green bragging rights'.

-- The OmniSwitch 9700 Enterprise Ethernet Switch: The OmniSwitch
9700 is a high-density, 10 slot chassis. Two center slots are
dedicated to chassis management modules (CMMs) allowing
redundant configurations, and eight slots for network
interfaces supporting an aggregation of up to 192 GigE ports
or 48 10GigE ports. The OS9700 is engineered to be deployed in
the core, data center, aggregation layer, or wiring closet.
