Constellation Energy Names Manager for Hillabee Plant

774 megawatt natural gas-fired facility expected to be operational in 2010

BALTIMORE, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy
(NYSE: CEG) today announced that Tony Padgett has been named general manager
of the Hillabee Energy Center in Alexander City, Ala.  His appointment will be
effective in August.
    Hillabee Energy is a partially completed 774 megawatt natural gas power
plant located in Tallapoosa County near Alexander City, Ala. Constellation
Energy purchased Hillabee from Calpine Corporation as part of a court-approved
auction in February 2008.
    "We're taking the necessary steps to safely and promptly move the Hillabee
project toward commercial operation by 2010," said Dale Linaweaver, managing
director, East Region for Constellation Power Generation, a subsidiary of
Constellation Energy. "Appointing Tony as plant manager is yet one more
significant step toward achieving that goal. Tony is a seasoned energy
industry leader and has the proven ability to direct the safe operation of
power plants while staying focused on our environmental responsibility. He
will no doubt be an asset to the plant and the community of Alexander City."
    The Hillabee facility is approximately 80 percent complete, and is
expected to be operational in 2010 when permitting, construction and
commissioning are finalized. Approximately 26 full-time workers will be
employed at the Hillabee facility when it is fully operational.
    Padgett will move to Hillabee from Constellation Energy's Rio Bravo Poso
and Rio Bravo Jasmin facilities, two coal-fired power plants located in
Bakersfield, Calif. He has served as plant manager of the two California
plants since 2007.
    Padgett has been employed in the energy industry for more than 17 years,
including previous experience with Calpine Corporation's Osprey Energy Center
in Florida and Aries Power Project in Pleasant Hill, Mo. He earned a
bachelor's of science degree in business management from the University of
Phoenix.
