Intrawest announces appointment of Stephen Richards as chief legal counsel

VANCOUVER, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ - Intrawest ULC ("Intrawest") today announced
the appointment of Stephen Richards as the company's new chief legal counsel.
In this position, Richards will assume overall responsibility for all of the
legal services, corporate governance and general corporate commercial matters
for Intrawest and he will report directly to Bill Jensen, chief executive
officer at Intrawest.
Richards brings more than 20 years of senior legal experience and adding value
to both private and public businesses. He has a demonstrated track record of
success in the areas of litigation management, enterprise insurance
underwriting, human resources/employment matters, real estate transactions,
mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and partnership structuring.

Prior to joining Intrawest, Richards served as general counsel and corporate
secretary for Imperial Parking Group, an industry leader in transportation
infrastructure management in Canada. During his tenure, Richards had overall
responsibility for the provision of legal services and risk management for the
corporate group, and he also led the company's acquisitions.
From 1988 to 2005, Richards held several leadership positions within the
corporate law group at Terasen Inc., a leading Canadian provider of energy and
utility services. In his roles as senior vice president, general counsel,
chief risk officer and corporate secretary for the Terasen Group of Companies,
he was accountable to the Board of Directors as well as for compliance with
the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), including insider trading controls and
corporate governance.
Under his direction, Terasen won national awards for governance including
accolades from The Conference Board and The Spencer Stuart National Award for
Governance. During his tenure, Richards also served as a director and officer
on a number of Terasen's subsidiary boards.
Richards earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Law Degree from
The University of British Columbia, and he was admitted to the British
Columbia Bar in 1986. A Vancouver resident, Richards is located at Intrawest's
head office in Vancouver, British Columbia.
