In HealthPort's continuing effort to focus on technology-based
products and services, it sells its DMS division to a national leader
in document management services!
NIXA, Mo.--(Business Wire)--
On August 5, EDCO Group, Inc., one of the largest document
conversion companies in the nation, will take over HealthPort's
document management services (DMS) division. HealthPort's management
team carefully reviewed the DMS offering and its fit into the
company's overall strategy and found that selling the division would
allow them to focus on their technology offerings and consultative
services.
In August 2005, HealthPort acquired Nauvalis, which provided the
company with healthcare consulting services (HCS), an electronic
document management system (EDMS), and document management services
(DMS)--all of which were, at the time, critical to the company's
success. "As we continue to develop technology-based solutions and
services, it became evident the DMS division didn't align with our
company's mission to partner with healthcare providers to improve
patient care, business processes, and financial outcomes by providing
quality service, proven solutions, and trusted expertise," says Steve
Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of HealthPort. He adds, "We will
continue to provide onsite scanning and conversion services for our
clients because this service is performed by our
release-of-information specialists coupled with our flagship
technology."
"We are pleased to have found a company, EDCO Group, Inc., a
national provider of document scanning and storage solutions
conveniently located in Springfield, Missouri, to purchase our DMS
division," says Brian Grazzini, Chief Financial Officer of HealthPort.
HealthPort's electronic document management system (EDMS) division
will be managed by its Solution Services division in Columbia, South
Carolina, which is a better fit for their EDMS product. However, EDMS
implementation, development, and support staff will remain at the
Nixa, Missouri location. HealthPort's healthcare consulting services
(HCS) division and staff will also continue to operate in Nixa,
Missouri, led by Torrey Barnhouse, Vice President and General Manager,
Healthcare Consulting Division.
EDCO is a great fit for HealthPort's DMS division, and HealthPort
will continue to partner with them on future transactions that require
physical document storage and large centralized conversion services.
