NextIO ExpressConnect(TM) PCI Express-based I/O Solutions Now Support Advanced Numerical Analysis
Deliver Financial Analysis and Vector Processing Functions at a
Fraction of the Cost
SAN FRANCISCO & AUSTIN, Texas--(Business Wire)--
NextIO, a leader in the PCI Express-based I/O solution
marketplace, today announced their NextIO ExpressConnect(TM) product
suite now supports advanced numerical analysis, financial modeling,
and vector processing functions. The support will enable resource and
I/O pooling and expansion for data centers and other markets, such as
the digital broadcast industry, financial services, and
telecommunications. The announcement took place at the Next Generation
Data Center Conference (NGDC), at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
NGDC is being held concurrently with the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo,
August 4-7 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
NextIO solutions deliver 100X performance over standard x86 I/O
models at a fraction of the cost. Any dense computing environment that
requires GPUs for financial or numerical analysis or vector processing
can now use off-the-shelf hardware. Traditionally, these solutions
require dedicated servers that are not only expensive but also may
require additional installation, programming and maintenance.
The NextIO ExpressConnect products are end-to-end connectivity
leveraging industry standard PCI Express (PCIe) technology. As an
event sponsor, NextIO will be demonstrating the N1400-PCM High-Speed
Switch Module and the N2800-ICA I/O Consolidation Appliance in the
Blade.org booth, No 476 at the conference. In the demo, advanced
vector processing and financial analysis functions will be offloaded
to the GPU boards located inside the N2800-ICA.
"Much of the technology expected to have a direct impact on
tomorrow's data centers are actually here today," said Chris Pettey,
CTO and Co-founder of NextIO. "With NextIO, companies can leverage
their current infrastructure assets that can result in immediate
operational savings as well as improvements in manageability, while
optimizing I/O performance and utilization."
In addition, Chris Pettey is presenting twice on the Center Stage.
His topic is "I/O Virtualization and Expansion: Yesterday's Promise;
Today's Reality." In this presentation, Pettey describes how shared
I/O resources offer opportunities for their higher utilization and
help servers reach greater efficiency, while dramatically cutting
power requirements.
The N1400-PCM High-Speed Switch Module enables blade servers to
expand their PCIe signals outside of the chassis. It delivers a
combined 35Gbps of I/O throughput external to the chassis for
connectivity to standard PCIe devices. The N2800-ICA enables flexible
configuration of standard PCI Express devices for I/O expansion,
partitioning, and virtualization. It offers up to 14 full-length,
full-power PCI Express devices to be connected to and partitioned
among multiple blade or rack servers.
