NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tennessee Association of
Homes and Services for the Aging (TNAHSA) will hold its annual conference this
week to educate Tennessee health care professionals and service providers
about the latest issues affecting long-term health care in Tennessee.
Featured speakers will include President and CEO of the American
Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) Larry Minnix,
songwriter and recording artist Jana Stanfield and nationally-recognized
health care consultant Clint Maun. The conference will be held at the Franklin
Marriott in Cool Springs.
The two-day conference, scheduled for August 5 and 6, will focus on
critical issues in aging services including the Long-Term Care Community
Choices Act of 2008, which was signed into law by Governor Phil Bredesen in
June. The Act reallocates state funding for the elderly and disabled, making
home and community-based health care services more accessible and affordable
for Tennesseans.
"Each year we bring together an impressive group of health leaders and
present valuable tools and information essential in Tennessee's changing
health care environment," said TNAHSA Executive Director Carrie Ermshar.
"Exciting developments this year, such as the Long-Term Care Community Choices
Act, present an important opportunity to educate and prepare those who provide
care for the aging and disabled throughout Tennessee."
