Business Objects Named a Market Leader in Enterprise Business Intelligence
Platforms by Independent Research Firm
SAN JOSE, Calif. and PARIS, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Business
Objects, an SAP company (NYSE: SAP), today announced that industry analyst
firm Forrester Research has named Business Objects as a leading vendor in
enterprise business intelligence (BI) platforms with the strongest current
product offering across all vendors. The July 2008 report, "The Forrester
Wave(TM): Enterprise Business Intelligence Platforms, Q3 2008," indicates that
Business Objects delivers a rich set of mature, best-in-class BI tools.

Through hands-on lab evaluations, vendor surveys and customer-reference
calls, Forrester's 151-criteria evaluation of 12 enterprise BI platform
vendors found that Business Objects achieved the highest scores for their
current offering. Below are key comments from the report about why Business
Objects is a leader in the market:
-- "There's indeed a best-in-class Business Objects tool for every BI use
case: Crystal Reports(R) for production reporting, Web Intelligence(R) for
ad-hoc querying, Voyager for online analytical processing (OLAP), Polestar for
guided BI search, Xcelsius(R) for interactive dashboards and several more."
-- "Business Objects' suite of products is front and center in the
combined SAP and Business Objects future product road maps. Even though SAP
has no significant prior experience in integrating large acquisitions, so far
the merger integration is going well. We expect Business Objects' products to
benefit significantly from the infusion of SAP's resources, technologies, and
deep industry expertise."
-- "One of the main advantages of implementing the entire suite of
products from SAP Business Objects is that end-to-end data lineage and impact
analysis become a no-brainer."
-- "Most of the tools are also available as a virtual appliance for easy
procurement, installation, and configuration."
As Forrester points out in the report, the BI market continues to be
dynamic: "Contrary to popular belief, this vibrant market continues to evolve
across multiple dimensions. We are currently on the cusp of a next generation
BI with different user interfaces, integration with process and rules,
end-user self-service, alternative analytical database management system
(DBMS) technologies, and many others."
Business Objects is a leader in the market in providing transformative BI
solutions that address the next generation of BI users. By making information
easily accessible and consumable via simplified user interfaces, Business
Objects helps companies to bridge the information divide between BI "power
users" and everyday business users, such as marketing managers or x-ray
technicians. Business Objects solutions provide easier access to relevant,
individualized information -- originating from within or outside of the
enterprise, in structured or unstructured formats -- empowering all people
with the data they need to work more efficiently.
Customers continue turning to Business Objects because it provides all
information to all people on one platform (see February 12, 2008 press
release, titled "Business Objects Announces Industry's First Intelligence
Platform") and its approach to software delivery offers customers choice.
Unlike other vendors Business Objects combines BI with solutions for
enterprise performance management and governance, risk and compliance, and is
best positioned to help organizations optimize their business performance.
