Michigan State Fairgrounds Contributions to Automotive Industry - Past,
Present and Future to Be Recognized in Aug 7th Press Event
AutoFair offers week-long auto-themed event from Aug 9th - 16th; New permanent
additions to Fairgrounds to be announced

WHEN: Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM
WHERE: Michigan State Fairgrounds, held in the recently renovated
Community Theater on site: Use main entrance from Woodward and
follow directional signage.
WHO: A coalition of supporters including MotorCities National
Heritage Area, the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau,
Motorcities Dreamakers, the Michigan State Fairgrounds itself
and several other community organizations are joining together
to rekindle and recognize the automotive heritage of the
Michigan State Fairgrounds.
WHAT: MotorCities National Heritage Area is recognizing the
significance of the automotive industry and labor heritage
associated with the Michigan State Fairgrounds.
Motorcities Dreamakers will have an ongoing presence at the
Fairgrounds beginning with the August 9th - 16th "AutoFair".
AutoFair has a robust schedule of activities.
Funds from specific AutoFair events will be donated to help
restore the "Veteran's Memorial Flame" honoring Michigan's
veterans.
The State Fairgrounds will add a permanent automotive display to
its 600-seat community theater which is being renamed
"Motorcities Dreamakers Horsepower Gallery and Theater".
The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau will assist the
Fairgrounds' marketing efforts by promoting the recently
renovated theater and the 24,000-square-foot Fairgrounds as a
meeting and convention center.
