Three Senior Bankers Join FBR Capital Markets' Investment Banking Team

John D. La Voie, Jorge Solares-Parkhurst and Brian D. Thom Join the Firm as
Managing Directors
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FBR Capital Markets
Corporation (Nasdaq: FBCM) (FBR Capital Markets), a leading investment bank
serving the middle market, announced today that John D. La Voie, Jorge
Solares-Parkhurst and Brian D. Thom have joined the firm as Managing Directors
within its Investment Banking division.
John D. La Voie has joined FBR Capital Markets' San Francisco office as a
Managing Director in its Financial Sponsors group and will lead the
development of the group's West Coast operations. He was most recently an
Executive Director of JPMorgan's Financial Sponsors group based in San
Francisco. Mr. La Voie holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Stanford
University and received an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at
Dartmouth College.
Jorge Solares-Parkhurst has been hired as a Managing Director within FBR
Capital Markets' New York-based Financial Institutions Investment Banking
team. Mr. Solares-Parkhurst was most recently a Senior Managing Director in
Bear Stearns' Financial Institutions group, and, prior to Bear Stearns, was a
Director in the Financial Institutions group at UBS. Mr. Solares-Parkhurst
holds a B.S.F.S. in international economics from the Edmund A. Walsh School of
Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
Brian D. Thom has also joined FBR Capital Markets as a Managing Director
in its Energy & Natural Resources group and will be based in the firm's New
York office. Prior to joining FBR Capital Markets, he was an Executive
Director with JPMorgan's Mergers & Acquisitions group, focusing on the firm's
Energy Services and Mining & Metals clients. Mr. Thom received an
undergraduate degree from Concordia University and holds an M.B.A. from the
DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.
