Baker & Taylor Names John Lindsay Vice President Book Merchandising

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Baker & Taylor, Inc., the world's
largest wholesale distributor of books and entertainment products, today
announced that John Lindsay has joined the Company as Vice President, Book
Merchandising.  Mr. Lindsay will report to Jean Srnecz, Senior Vice President,
Merchandising.
    "I am delighted that John has joined our organization," said Ms. Srnecz.
"He will play a key role in the implementation of our supply chain initiatives
and our implementation of Category Buying."
    Reporting to Mr. Lindsay will be Divisional Merchandise Directors Sally
Neher, Rick Shalayda and Barbara Witt.  Allen Johnson will dually report to
Mr. Lindsay and Ms. Srnecz.
    John most recently was VP Marketing/Merchandising at Levy Home
Entertainment with overall responsibilities for all areas of book buying,
category management, marketing, logistics and publisher relations.  At Levy,
he drove the IMU (Initial mark up) and sales improvement programs, and freight
reduction initiative.  He also played a key role in partnering with publishers
on product development for new products/packages for the execution of
successful go-to market product launches in non-traditional markets.
    Before joining Levy in 2001, John held various senior Merchandise
Management positions with Shopko Stores, and the Venture Stores division of
the May Company.  John holds a BA in Marketing from Missouri State University.
