SEATTLE, WA, Aug 05 (MARKET WIRE) --
Rebuilding Together Seattle and The Pepsi Bottling Group worked to repair
and improve Zion Preparatory Academy this past weekend. Work included
landscaping, clearing debris from the surrounding property, painting, and
improving the basketball and four-square courts. Nearly 35 PBG volunteers
were onsite.
"At PBG, our employees set the community outreach agenda. They identify
local organizations that mean something to them and to their families,"
said Rick Almquist, Vice President and General Manager of PBG's Northwest
Market Unit.
Almquist continued, "In Seattle, we wanted to support the Zion Prep
Academy so we could further enhance the terrific learning environment the
school offers in developing the city's young people. By partnering with
Rebuilding Together, we were able to create a special project that was
meaningful for Zion Prep and took advantage of PBG's specific skills and
resources. It has been a great experience for all of us at PBG."
Through volunteerism, financial support, product donations and civic
engagement, The PBG Foundation strives to leverage the unquenchable spirit
of the company's 70,000 employees to improve the lives of families and
neighborhoods in need. Since 2002, PBG employees have collectively spent
over 40,000 hours volunteering to support a wide range of charitable
causes. The company allocates more than $18 million to financial and
product donations every year.
Zion Prep Academy is one of five projects that The Pepsi Bottling Group
and Rebuilding Together will complete. Other locations include Detroit,
MI; Newark, NJ; San Antonio, TX; and Tampa, FL.
The mission of Zion Preparatory Academy is to ensure academic excellence
in a loving, supportive environment where every child receives individual
attention and instruction.
