Prokhorov to sell more Norilsk shares to Potanin

MOSCOW, Aug 5 (Reuters) Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov will consolidate and sell 16.66 percent of Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.MM) to his former partner in the mining giant, Vladimir Potanin, Prokhorov's Onexim group said on Tuesday.

Potanin will pay him $6.5 billion in cash and 35.2 percent of Polyus Gold (PLZL.MM) worth $3.5 billion, Onexim said.

"In accordance with the terms of the irrevocable offer, Mr Vladimir Potanin, acting through (his) controlled interests, would purchase the said equity stake for the total amount of $10 billion, or $315 per one share," the statement said.

Potanin's spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment. (Reporting by Polina Devitt)
