Indian shares open 0.5 pct higher

BANGALORE Aug 12 (Reuters) - Indian shares started up 0.5 percent on Tuesday, led by gains in Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO), but there was caution ahead of industrial data due by noon (0630 GMT).

By 9:58 a.m. (0428 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 0.36 percent, or 55.96 points, at 15,559.88.

The 50-issue NSE index .NSEI rose 0.29 percent to 4,633.90. (Reporting by Sumeet Chatterjee; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
