Woolworths says still open to talks with Baugur

LONDON Aug 19 (Reuters) - British retailer Woolworths WLW.L has left the door open to another bid for its 815-store retail business by the Baugur-led consortium after rejecting an earlier approach from the investment group as too low.

"The Woolworths board is not unwilling to talk to Baugur but was unwilling to recommend the bid it made," a Woolworths spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday.

Woolworths rejected a bid put forward by Baugur, which owns 10 percent of the retailer, after deciding the offer of about 50 million for the stores was too low and had too many conditions attached. (Reporting by Rhys Jones; editing by Sue Thoams)
