NBA & ABA Legends Convening for Reunion Extravaganza in Puerto Rico This
Weekend, August 21-24

Highlighted By Compelling Community Outreach Project

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- From recalling old
basketball war stories to hitting golf balls and participating in the group's
"Project Smile" community initiative with the Starkey Hearing Foundation,
nearly 200 basketball greats will be descending on The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan
Hotel, Resort & Spa in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, on Aug. 21-24 for the
anticipated National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) Legends
Reunion.

From Moses Malone to Rick Barry, Chuck Person, Micheal Ray Richardson and many
more, basketball greats transcending all eras of basketball will gather to
catch up with former teammates, network, meet to discuss NBRPA business and
more.

The Legends Reunion will culminate with a poignant community endeavor under
the Association's "Project Smile" umbrella, a year-round program that aims to
boost the spirits, bring hope, and deliver smiles to men, women and children
worldwide. In partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation and hosted by
Chrysler, the NBRPA will change the lives of 250 hearing impaired and
underprivileged Puerto kids by providing them with hearing aids on Saturday,
Aug 23 at the Teatro de la Universidad Interamericana, Rio Piedras Campus. A
press ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. featuring Legends Earl Monroe,
Spencer Haywood, Buck Williams, David Thompson, Tim Legler, Mark Eaton,
Charles Smith and others. The Legends will distribute Webster's
Spanish/English Dictionaries to the children, courtesy of Federal Street
Press, a division of Merriam-Webster.

"We look forward to bringing our family of former basketball players together,
as we are a unique brotherhood that shares a love for the game that impacted
each of us tremendously," said Buck Williams, NBRPA President. "The Legends
Reunion is a time for us to celebrate the significant strides our Association
continues to make, and while our Membership will enjoy a number of events
together, this year's focus is on our community initiative. We are very
excited to work with Starkey on this phenomenal project."

"Together with our partners, it's important for us to help the children
because they're the future of the world. This is a very special thing we do
for the children. Our reward is in the faces and smiles of each person as we
help them hear again," said William F. Austin, Founder, Starkey Hearing
Foundation.
