S.Korea official says KDB considered Lehman buy

SEOUL Aug 22 (Reuters) - A South Korean government official confirmed on Friday that Korea Development Bank had considered buying a stake in Lehman Brothers LEH.N, but talks with the U.S. bank had not developed to the point of discussing details.

"KDB had said it would consider buying (a stake in Lehman)," the official told Reuters, asking not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue. "It seems like KDB internally decided to stop the talks, given that it had not kept the government posted further."

On Thursday, the Financial Times reported that the beleagured U.S. investment bank had held talks on a sale of up to half its shares with state-owned Korea Development Bank (KDB) as well as with China's CITIC Securities (600030.SS), but both investors walked away saying the price was too high.
