                           TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Further to the announcement made earlier today, Amlin plc ("Amlin") announces
that on 26 August 2008 it also transferred from treasury to participants in its
employee share option scheme(s), the following number of its ordinary shares of
28.125 pence each ("ordinary shares"):

10,285 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 161.77 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of
10,723,237 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 467,850,202 ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
