BIA Launches Michigan Facility Expanding Capabilities and Footprint While
Creating Jobs
New location to provide clients with increased service offerings and capacity
while fostering economic growth
NEW YORK, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Business Intelligence Associates, Inc.
(BIA), an established leader in the information management and legal
technology industry, announced today the opening of a new location in
Southwest Michigan and the creation of nearly 600 new jobs in the region,
which will also benefit the Michigan economy. The new facility and
professional staff will further enhance BIA's ability to provide advanced
technologies and services to corporations and law firms to facilitate the
collection, analysis, review, production and long-term management of
information implicated in legal and regulatory matters.
In addition to supplying services directly to clients in the Midwest, the
Michigan facility will provide support to the company's New York and San
Francisco offices. The initial focus of the new facility will be to
significantly expand BIA's document review services, but will quickly grow to
include BIA's complete service line as the new facilities are completed.
"The launch of BIA's facility in Southwest Michigan is really a
'win-win-win' situation," said BIA's President Brian Schrader. "The expansion
is a win for the State of Michigan and its residents through the creation of
nearly 600 new local jobs and a win for BIA as we take yet another large step
to expand our depth of services while aggressively pursuing our overall growth
strategy. And, it's a win for our clients who, in a very short time, will be
able to leverage our expanded service offerings and capacity through a
progressive cost model for discovery services." The nearly 600 jobs include
251 new positions directly with BIA combined with the generation of an
additional 348 indirect jobs, as calculated by the Michigan Economic
Development Corporation (MEDC).
After reviewing competing sites in several other states, BIA determined
that the Kalamazoo region of Michigan provided the ideal blend of highly
skilled labor, build-out opportunities and economic incentives. "There was a
tangible energy in the air during our visits to sites in Michigan that helped
us make our decision" Schrader said. "The outpouring of support from the
local communities and state government and agencies has really been
astounding."
BIA's decision to locate this new facility in the Kalamazoo area is
supported by MEDC and Gov. Jennifer Granholm. "BIA is the kind of innovative
company we are targeting to help diversify and grow our economy," Granholm
said. "Our competitive business climate and outstanding workforce will be
tremendous assets for the company as it establishes its first venture in
Michigan."
"BIA's decision to launch operations in Michigan sends a clear signal to
the rest of the world that Michigan is a great place for companies to do
business," MEDC President and CEO James C. Epolito said. "I applaud the city
of Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan First for partnering with us to make a
strong business case to win this project and the new jobs it will create."
BIA expects to begin hiring full time personnel within the next two weeks
and is currently accepting employment inquiries from qualified professionals
in the Kalamazoo area. The primary focus at first will be on hiring attorneys
and paralegals to expand BIA's document review services, with additional
service, administrative and IT professionals to be added as the new location
continues to expand.
