Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Co-Host of 'The View' Joins Ronald McDonald(R) to Read
to Children at the McDonald's(R) at 34th Street

McDonald's New York Tri-State Celebrates the Ten Year Anniversary of the
"Check It Out" Reading Program

NEW YORK, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of the 10th anniversary of
McDonald's "Check it Out" Reading Program, on Thursday, August 28, television
personality, Elisabeth Hasselbeck ("The View"), will join Ronald McDonald to
read her favorite storybook to a group of children at the McDonald's
restaurant located at 427 10th Avenue at 34th Street in Manhattan at 1:30 p.m.

McDonald's "Check It Out" Reading Program is an annual reading program that
gives children in grades K-4 incentives to read during the summer. It also
serves to help kids get school-ready by getting a jump start on their reading.
"Check it Out" rewards local children with a free Happy Meal(R) for reading
five books during the summer months. Kids can supplement fries and soda for
Apple Dippers(R) and 1% low fat milk.

According to Paul Hendel, president of the McDonald's New York Tri-State Area
Owner/Operator Association, "We are delighted to have Elisabeth Hasselbeck
help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the McDonald's 'Check It Out'
Reading Program," he said. "Her participation with the 'Check it Out' Reading
Program is exemplary and just one of many efforts that stands true to
McDonald's giving back to the community."

"As a mother and proponent of childhood literacy, I am honored to be
participating in this very special event," said Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "The
McDonald's 'Check It Out' Reading Program" is a great way to promote good
reading habits. Between the story and Ronald McDonald, I have a feeling there
will be some happy kids by the end of the event!"

The "McDonald's Check It Out" Reading Program was created in 1998 to encourage
reading, education and imagination. Since the program's inception, McDonald's
"Check It Out" Reading Program has successfully promoted summer reading for
over 1 million children in the New York Tri-State Area. A highlight of the
program is the "Ronald and Me" Reading Tour, which enlists the help of Ronald
McDonald to share his love for reading at libraries throughout the area.
Hasselbeck's reading event will be the final stop on this tour, which visited
fifteen libraries this summer.

"Elisabeth's visit to my store will certainly be an amazing experience for the
children and a great compliment to the 'Check It Out' Reading Program," said
Rick Cisneros. "I am very excited to have Elisabeth as a guest and I am
looking forward to an amazing reading adventure."
