Bruce A. Stallsworth Joins Newfield Exploration as Government Relations Manager

Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE:NFX) today announced that Bruce A.
Stallsworth was named Government Affairs Manager, a newly created position
within the Company.
Stallsworth brings more than 20 years of government affairs experience at
both the federal and state levels. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President
of Government Affairs for the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association where
he was in charge of policy development and political activities, including its
political action committee -- the state's largest. Previously, he worked at
Phillips Petroleum Company as a Federal Relations Representative in
Washington, D.C. Before this, he held government relations positions of
increasing responsibility within Phillips in Huntington Beach, Calif.; Denver,
Colo.; and Oklahoma City, Okla.

implements an increased political presence at the state and federal levels,"

Stallsworth has a law degree from the University of Kansas and a B.A. from
Kansas State University.
He will reside in Denver and have responsibility for Newfield's government
relations efforts in all states where the Company conducts operations and also
at the federal level.
