Repeat: New Sacramento Coalition Formed to Save Lives by Fighting Underage
Drinking Through Education and Enforcement
Coalition to provide experts, address national debate to lower the drinking
age to 18 years
What: "Minor drinking... a major problem" news media event. Last year,
222 California teens died in alcohol-related traffic crashes.
Scores more died from alcohol poisoning.

Why: Sacramento is fighting back with new initiatives and Labor Day DUI

Background:
Too many Californians are dying because of alcohol-related incidents. To
address this growing challenge, a new coalition has formed to attempt to save
young lives through educational and enforcement efforts. This new coalition
was formed to raise awareness about the dangers of underage drinking.
About the Sacramento Regional Youth and Alcohol Coalition
The Coalition meets on a bi-monthly basis to collect data, develop
objectives and identify resources available to confront the problem of
underage alcohol consumption in the Sacramento area. With a mission to
improve the health and safety of adolescents through positive change of
community response to underage alcohol use, it offers free membership to all
organizations and agencies interested in preventing underage drinking. For
