Enterprise search firm continues penetration into international markets
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Vivisimo (vivisimo.com), a leader in
enterprise search, achieved two milestones in the first half of calendar year
2008, closing on the company's first round of outside investment and being
named a leader in enterprise search by Forrester Research, Inc. an independent
analyst firm.

Demonstrating continued sales growth, Vivisimo sold a record 38 software
licenses for its Velocity Search Platform(TM) during the first half of 2008,
up 27 percent over the same period a year ago. In addition, deployments of
Velocity through OEM relationships continued to accelerate in the first half
of 2008, growing to more than 900 organizations using Vivisimo's search
platform.
Vivisimo also signed seven new reselling and consulting partnerships. The
growth continued Vivisimo's expansion into international markets, with
partnerships added in northern and southern Europe and Latin America. Among
the new partnerships is Kisiwa Technologies SRL in Italy, which produced a
number of Vivisimo search deployments within the Italian government.
In May, the Forrester Wave: Enterprise Search, Q2 2008 report assessed
Vivisimo's Velocity Search Platform(TM), noting that: "Vivisimo's investments
in Velocity's user interface flexibility, social networking features,
federated search, and a rich API make it a market leader."(1)
The company's continued growth follows the strategy Vivisimo announced in
March when it closed on the first-ever institutional investment in the
company's eight-year history by Portland, ME based North Atlantic Capital
(northatlanticcapital.com).
"Vivisimo continues at the forefront of creating strategies and products
to help organizations manage and profit by the massive amounts of data they
are creating and storing," said Raul Valdes-Perez, chief executive of
Vivisimo. "We help our customers maximize the business value of their
information by using sophisticated search and discovery to drive collaboration
and innovation throughout their organizations."
Other highlights for the first half-year include:
-- Introduced the Velocity Discovery Module, with auto-classification,
express tagging and native document export features for more collaboration
in search discovery applications
-- Introduced Clustering 2.0, or remix clustering, a patent-pending
technology that reveals submerged or secondary topics in addition to the
initial clustering
-- Hiring of Vivisimo's 100th employee
-- Won 'Best Enterprise Search Solution' in InfoWorld's 2008 Technology of
the Year
-- Named to KMWorld's list of 100 'Companies that Matter in Knowledge
Management'
