NEW YORK, NY and SAN BRUNO, CA, Aug 27 (MARKET WIRE) -- PEOPLE.com and YouTube(TM) today announced the grand prize winner of their Red Carpet Reporter contest (www.youtube.com/redcarpetreporter). Franchesca Leigh Ramsey, a 24-year-old communications manager with the Miami Chamber of Commerce, will spend a whirlwind two days in Los Angeles this September where she will receive the ultimate red carpet treatment herself, including hair and make-up by Revlon, a clothing allowance and VIP entry to exclusive events, before fulfilling her dream of working the red carpet interviewing television's biggest names. The competition, which launched in July, invited aspiring red carpet reporters to post their videos to a co-branded casting channel on YouTube (www.youtube.com/redcarpetreporter). Applicants posted their best two-to four-minute videos showcasing their interviewing skills as they chatted up family and friends, while pretending to be on the red carpet at a Hollywood award show. Videos related to the search generated hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and PEOPLE.com. The top ten finalists were selected by a team of PEOPLE.com editors and red carpet correspondents, who along with the YouTube community voted on the finalists' second round videos, ultimately selecting Franchesca the winner. Franchesca's videos are visible here: Round 1 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5u9UTAFbuE; Round 2 -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf55zA1NfzA "One month ago, I was surfing celebrity entertainment websites, performing stand up in front of small crowds, and dreaming of what it would be like on the red carpet," said Franchesca Leigh Ramsey, YouTube and PEOPLE.com's Red Carpet Reporter. "After all that practice and preparation, it's still astounding that in just a few short weeks, I will be living my dream job and making connections that could change my career forever." "By partnering with PEOPLE.com for this co-branded competition, we have been able to break new ground in Hollywood and offer the YouTube community an All-Access pass to one of the hottest nights in entertainment," said Jordan Hoffner, Director of Content Partnerships at YouTube. "Never before has an aspiring red carpet reporter had the opportunity to sidestep the velvet rope, interview Hollywood stars alongside veteran PEOPLE.com reporters, and film the experience for their YouTube fans. We are proud to join forces with PEOPLE.com to offer one red carpet reporter the chance to fulfill her lifelong goal." "We couldn't have been more pleased with the level of participation and excitement we saw from the YouTube and PEOPLE.com communities," said Mark Golin, Editor, PEOPLE.com.
