Syneron's VelaShape(TM) proven to help regain pre-pregnancy body

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Syneron(TM), the
manufacturer and marketer of post-baby body shaping solution VelaShape(TM) and
other medical aesthetic devices providing treatments resulting in body
contouring, today reveals the results of the VelaShape Body After Baby
National Research measuring post-pregnancy women's desire to regain their
pre-pregnancy body. Syneron commissioned M/A/R/C Research to conduct a survey
with a sampling of 500 U.S. women who had a child within the last eight years
to see how they felt about their body post-pregnancy, how they felt about
celebrity moms' bodies post-pregnancy, what parts of their body are of most
concern, what causes these body image concerns and lifestyle changes these
women have made since having children/a child.

In a clinical study directly addressing post-baby body concerns, VelaShape
was proven effective by reducing circumference and skin texture in new mom
problem areas including the thighs, buttocks and stomach.

include: (click here: http://velashape.com for full survey results and
methodology)
Celebrity Mom Backlash Imminent: 54 percent of women choose jealousy to
describe their attribute toward celebrity moms who immediately regain their
pre-baby shape.
-- Despite being jealous, women surveyed also express admiration (47
percent) and skepticism (41 percent) of celebrity moms' post-baby bodies.
-- Less than 30 percent of new moms were inspired by celebrity moms.
-- Reese Witherspoon is the celebrity mom's body most admired by
respondents.
      * Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore and
Catherine Zeta Jones, respectively, also topped the list.
The Majority of Moms Think about their Bodies Daily: More than half of
women (57 percent) surveyed say they think about their body shape daily.
-- 71 percent of new moms report that they feel less physically attractive
after having their baby.
-- Women reported that even if they were able to lose some or all of their
pregnancy weight, 88 percent could not get back their pre-baby stomach.
      * The other top concerns for women were their thighs (47 percent) and
their buttocks (33 percent).
-- Overwhelmingly, women (and the men surveyed about women's
post-pregnancy body) describe their least favorite body part as a "jelly
belly."
Moms Trade in Bikinis for Oversized Sweats: 48 percent of women add
oversized sweaters and sweatshirts to their wardrobe after having a baby.
-- 15 percent of women began wearing their husband's clothes
post-pregnancy.
-- Though nearly half of women responding say they wore a bikini before
pregnancy, less than 10 percent claim to have worn one post-pregnancy, with
one third opting for a one piece swimsuit.
-- On average, women felt they needed to lose two dress sizes to reach
their ideal shape.
Moms Sex Life Suffers: More than 68 percent of women agree that they would
have sex more often if they had their pre-baby body back.
Dads More Positive When it Comes to Body Image: Men perceive the average
amount of weight gained as less than what women report.
-- The average weight women reported wanting to lose, 36 pounds post-baby,
was statistically significantly more than the 27 pounds that men think women
should lose.
Moms Stop Trying to be Beautiful: 62 percent of women are spending
significantly less time on their beauty routine after having a baby.
-- Nearly 40 percent of women surveyed do not wear makeup and do not shave
at least once a week.
In the recent clinical study performed on new mothers, Dr. Marc Winter, an
OB/GYN in Newport Beach, California, tested the effects of VelaShape, the
first FDA-cleared device for temporary thighs circumferential reduction and
the first class II device cleared for temporary reduction of the appearance of
cellulite. The study demonstrated that VelaShape reduces circumference and
improves skin texture using a combination of heat, suction and massage. The
study found that patients saw an average reduction of 2.9 inches on their
stomach, one inch on each thigh and 2.33 inches on the buttocks after five
VelaShape treatments.
"VelaShape is comfortable, relaxing and, best of all, effective," said
Jessica Denay, founder of the Hot Mom's Club and author of the Hot Mom's
Handbook series. "After having VelaShape treatments, I was able to fit back
into pants I hadn't been able to wear for years. I regularly recommend
VelaShape to my fellow mothers to get that extra little boost in confidence
they need to truly be a Hot Mom."
A patient of Dr. Winter's, Denay understands the frustrations that new
mom's face as they deal with the many changes a new baby brings - not the
least of which is a mother's body. In her guide "The Busy Mom's Guide to a
Beautiful Body", free and downloadable at http://www.velashape.com, Denay
recommends a healthy diet and regular exercise to new mothers to help re-build
body confidence, but realizes that sometimes that is just not enough to get
the desired results. As she explains in the guide, a mother's body is
literally pulled, tugged and stretched from the inside out and that really
takes a toll on a mother's body.
