38 Clear Channel Radio Stations Join Forces with Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial for Company's Largest "Build the Dream" Radiothon
Radiothon to Coincide With the 45th Anniversary of Dr. King's "I
Have A Dream Speech" on Thursday, August 28, 2008
WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
In commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the March on
Washington and the 'I Have a Dream' speech, Clear Channel Radio and
the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project
Foundation, Inc., today announced the additions of local stations,
totaling 38 nationwide, to collaborate in the Clear Channel "Build the
Dream" Radiothon on Thursday, August 28th.
"This is the first time in history that Clear Channel has
participated in a radiothon of this magnitude," said Doc Wynter, SVP,
Urban Programming for Clear Channel Radio. "We are proud to be a part
of the commemoration and cannot think of a better way to honor Dr.
King's rich legacy than to join forces with the Foundation to raise
funds for the Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C."
On Thursday, all stations will solicit donations on-air and
online. Listeners will be directed to the Memorial Foundation's
website www.mlkradiothon.org and to (800) MLK-1386 to make a donation.
All funds raised from the campaign will go towards the Memorial, which
will be erected on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

A Memorial honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be built on
the National Mall, situated adjacent to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Memorial and in a direct line between the Lincoln and Jefferson
Memorials. Congress passed Joint Resolutions in 1996 authorizing Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to establish a Memorial honoring Dr. King
to be built in Washington, D.C. The ceremonial groundbreaking took
