Music learning software's repertoire library achieves milestone
MINNEAPOLIS--(Business Wire)--
MakeMusic, Inc. (Nasdaq: MMUS) announced today the addition of the
1,000th concert band title to their continually expanding SmartMusic
repertoire library. In addition to concert band titles, this library
cumulatively includes 89 jazz ensemble titles and 168 orchestra
titles, and covers all levels of difficulty, from beginning to
advanced. Each of the 1,257 titles provides an audio recording of
professional musicians and pre-approved assignments that educators can
easily assign to their students via SmartMusic Impact. Since the
beginning of 2008, MakeMusic has released an average of more than 70
new titles each month.

Originally known for its vast repertoire library of solo
accompaniments, the concert band, jazz band, and orchestra titles
expand the market for SmartMusic as they allow music educators and
their students to prepare for band and orchestra concerts as well as
solo recitals and regional and state contests. Audio recordings let
students hear the style and drama of the music and how their parts fit
into the piece. The educator-authored, predefined assignments provide
music teachers with a turnkey solution to help prepare for the next
concert and a means to document student achievement.

"We are very pleased to have reached this important milestone as
we enter the back-to-school season," stated Ron Raup, MakeMusic's
co-CEO. "In order for educators to make the best use of SmartMusic in
their classrooms, we need to ensure that we provide the literature
they want to rehearse and perform. We believe that these first 1,000
concert band titles represent an excellent foundation in covering
popularly performed pieces, and will contribute to more educators
integrating SmartMusic into their curriculum. Moving forward we expect
to continue to complement our library of concert band titles as we
increase our focus in building a more persuasive library for
orchestra."
