Pelosi

DENVER, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a transcript
of a speech, as prepared for delivery, by Nancy Pelosi at the Democratic
National Convention on Wednesday, August 27, 2008:
Scheduled for delivery: August 27, 2008 - 5:00-6:00 pm MT

    EMBARGOED FOR RELEASE ON DELIVERY

    The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
    Democratic National Convention
    Wednesday, August 27, 2008
    Remarks as Prepared for Delivery

One hundred years ago, the first five women ever to vote at a national
convention were delegates in Denver. This year, we celebrate another
milestone: for the first time ever, the majority of delegates are women.
To the 2,170 women delegates: this is our convention. To women across
America: this is our party. And to all Americans: Barack Obama is our
candidate to deliver the change we need.
I am proud to be joined by my distinguished women colleagues of the United
States House of Representatives who are working for America's working women.
They will share the stories of women around our country who all agree that our
country can't afford more of the same.
