MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday that Russia does not want to be isolated and will endeavor to develop ties with the United States, European Union and other states, Interfax news agency reported.

Medvedev said Russia would not backtrack on its decision to recognize Georgia's breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states.

"We have taken our decision and we took it irrevocably," Interfax quoted Medvedev as saying in an interview with Russian television stations.
