E.ON sees power prices rising for at least a year
FRANKFURT, Sept 2 |
FRANKFURT, Sept 2 (Reuters) - The chief executive of E.ON (EONGn.DE), Germany's largest utility, sees power prices for households in Europe's largest economy rising for at least another year as the company passes on soaring wholesale prices.
Political measures to lower power prices have no effect, the company told analysts at a conference in Madrid on Monday.
"I believe, although there is pressure on this issue and the political pressure, we will be able to pass through these higher costs with a -- let's say in the German market -- at least a delay of one, to one and a half years before the higher wholesale price is finally reaching the end-consumer," Chief Executive Wulf Bernotat said, according to a recording of the conference.
Soaring wholesale prices are also increasing profit expectations for the company's new power plants, Chief Financial Officer Marcus Schenck said at the conference.
"We are for our project pipeline more in the money than we thought a year back," he said, according to the recording. (Reporting by Peter Dinkloh; editing by Sue Thomas)
