Cisco's Director of Hardware Engineering to Present Keynote Address at
TechInsights' Inaugural Embedded Power Conference
Jeff Cain, Ph.D., to Speak on Past Challenges, Future Opportunities and Green
Initiatives in Embedded Design
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- TechInsights
(http://www.techinsights.com/) today announced that Jeff Cain, director of
hardware engineering for Cisco's Internet Systems business unit, will deliver
the inaugural keynote address for the Embedded Power Conference
(http://www.cmp-egevents.com/web/pm) in San Jose, taking place September
17-18, 2008. Dr. Cain will reflect on past challenges and future opportunities
for the embedded design industry, including the role green initiatives will
play in helping decrease overall power consumption.
During his keynote address, entitled "Challenges and Opportunities in the
New Green World," Dr. Cain will tackle some of the challenges engineers have
faced while designing large, modular networking platforms, citing real-world
examples from Cisco's long history of leading designs. Dr. Cain's address
will cover a range of issues, from the design of high-density power supplies
to the green initiatives and actions that can be taken in the networking
industry to help alleviate demands that contribute to issues with overall
power consumption. Attendees can also look forward to learning about the
future of these designs and just how far experts anticipate the next
generation of boxes will go.
Dr. Cain's presentation will kick off a two-day line up of educational
presentations and technical sessions led by engineers that are designed to
address the issues at the forefront of power management.
