NEWPORT BEACH, CA, Sep 02 (MARKET WIRE) --
Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of
semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today
announced that Excelocity, a developer of embedded gateway solutions, has
integrated its carrier-class XL-Gateway Framework software development
kit with Mindspeed's Comcerto 300 Series access processors to accelerate
signaling and call control application development for carrier access
voice-over-IP (VoIP) gateways.
Combining Mindspeed's Comcerto VoIP system-on-chip and media-processing
software with Excelocity's application development framework provides
telecommunications and enterprise equipment vendors with highly scalable
hardware and software reference designs to rapidly develop IP-based
multiservice access nodes (MSANs), IP-digital subscriber access
multiplexers (IP-DSLAMs), multi-tenant units/multi-dwelling units
(MTU/MDUs), IP-private branch exchanges (IP-PBXs) and multimedia routers.
"The growth of next-generation network (NGN) VoIP subscribers will
accelerate substantially over the next five years, both through migration
from legacy telephone networks and the addition of new subscribers in
developing regions," said Greg Collins, vice president of IP telephony
Carrier & Set-top Box Market Research with the Dell'Oro Group. "From 2008
to 2012, over 260 million traditional telephone subscribers are forecasted
to connect through IP-based NGN media gateways deployed in the access
infrastructure."
"We are excited to add Excelocity as an OpenMind(TM) development partner,"
said Kurt Michel, director of marketing for carrier VoIP products at
Mindspeed.
"The ability of Excelocity's call-control framework to easily integrate
third-party signaling protocol stacks such as SIP with customer-specific
software is a perfect complement for our Comcerto 300 Series family.
Through our collaboration, we now offer our joint customers all of the
elements and expertise necessary to implement a successful media gateway
solution on a single Comcerto 300 processor."
The Excelocity XL-Gateway Framework significantly reduces product
development costs and time to market, from years to months, with a
modular, highly scalable architecture with high-level APIs for call,
media and OAMP control. Available for both Linux and VxWorks platforms,
it has been pre-integrated with third-party SIP, MGCP, ISDN and CAS
protocol stacks and provides the multimedia path and call control for all
combinations of FXS, FXO, ISDN, CAS and SIP calls over PSTN, LAN and WAN
networks.
Mindspeed's Comcerto 300 Series of multi-core VoIP processors and
carrier-class media processing software delivers the industry's most
complete VoIP media gateway solution for next-generation network carrier
and enterprise applications. With a rich set of interfaces, voice codec
options and packet-processing features, and an integrated host processor,
the Comcerto 300 Series enables manufacturers to quickly and
cost-effectively integrate VoIP-enabled T1/E1 and POTS gateway functions
into a broad variety of carrier and enterprise access equipment.
Mindspeed's Comcerto 300 Series evaluation boards include Zarlink's Ve880
VoicePort(TM) integrated SLIC/SLAC, while also providing direct
connectivity to Zarlink's long-loop, high-performance VoiceEdge VE790 and
next-generation VE792 SLIC/SLAC evaluation boards, all under the control
of the Excelocity XL-Gateway Framework.
