BioRN Cluster Management GmbH: Biotechnology Cluster Rhine-Neckar Wins German Top Cluster Contest

HEIDELBERG, Germany--(Business Wire)--
BioRN Cluster Management GmbH today announced the success of the
Rhine-Neckar biotechnology cluster (BioRN) in the Top Cluster Contest
of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The BioRN
cluster was distinguished as one of the five most significant
high-tech regions in Germany and will receive part of the 200 million
Euro federal grant.

With the help of this grant, the aim is to develop a total of 70
new drugs, diagnostic products and technology platforms, as well as
about 20 innovative services in the field of cell-based and molecular
medicine by the year 2013 in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
This will guarantee 400 highly qualified jobs in research and
development. Another 4,000 jobs are planned to be created by the year
2018. "We are equipped and determined to establish ourselves as the
number one location in Europe for medical biotechnology in the coming

BioRN Cluster Management GmbH is a public-private partnership
between the Rhine-Neckar BioRegion, the Heidelberg Technology Park,
the Rhine-Neckar Chamber of Commerce and the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan
Region. The newly founded company is charged with the coordination,
integration, development and marketing of the BioRN cluster.
