EXFO Extends Leadership in 40G/43G SONET/SDH Testing with Expanded
Capabilities on Transport Blazer

New feature set gives unprecedented insight into 40G network equipment
behavior, 40G network service operations and network management system
(NMS) configuration

QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering
Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) announced today the release of new software
features for the Transport Blazer and Power Blazer product lines. This set of
advanced features, contained within EXFO's IQS modules for R&D and software
verification groups and FTB modules for network operators, provide the
versatility, flexibility and affordability required to validate network
restoration times and overall network resilience at rates up to 40/43 Gbit/s.
With this new software release, the IQS-8140 or FTB-8140 40G/43G analyzers can
perform a host of new tests, including automatic protection switching (APS)
and service disruption time (SDT) testing to ensure compliance with Telcordia
GR-253 and ITU-T G.841 specifications. This release also provides 40G
round-trip delay (RTD) analysis to measure network latency - a critical
parameter for delay-sensitive traffic such as video. In addition, customers
can benefit from EXFO's unified platform solution to host both the
IQS/FTB-8140 and the IQS/FTB-8130NGE concurrently, enabling integrated testing
of all telecom rates from DS0 to 43 Gbit/s, in addition to Ethernet testing
from 10 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s and 1x, 2x, 4x and 10x Fibre Channel testing.
This release also offers advanced error/alarm injection to evaluate the
behavior of 40G network equipment and carrier network management software
(NMS) configurations. This feature sends periodic bursts of errors and alarms
to validate that 40G network equipment properly reports recurring network
issues and that the NMS is properly configured to handle these issues. This
type of advanced testing is critical to ensure equipment and 40G network
stability.
"We're clearly gaining significant traction in next-generation network testing
and our 40/43G test solution represents one of our numerous areas of
excellence," said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President of Product Management
and Marketing. "Customers now recognize we're at the forefront of
technological advances, giving them innovative testing, analysis and
troubleshooting capabilities that are aligned with progressive networking
practices. With these additional features, EXFO is once again providing
equipment vendors and network operators with the testing capabilities demanded
by today's ultra high-speed, delay-sensitive network infrastructures."
