Full-Day Session Shares Best Practices for Improving Rails
                        Application Performance
WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
Intridea, Inc., the agile enterprise Web 2.0 company, will present
a full-day training session, "Rails Refactoring: Triage, Prevention,
and Performance," at the Lone Star Ruby Conference 2008. The
conference is being held September 4-6, 2008 at the Norris Conference
Center in Austin, TX.

Rails Refactoring: Triage, Prevention, and Performance

Whether faced with the inherited mess of a previous development
team's Rails project; a code base that is poorly tested, not very
DRY(1) or just generally confusing; or a Rails site that has stopped
or slowed to a crawl, it's time to refactor.

In the first half of this lab-heavy course, three Intridea
developers will go through real-life examples of code written and
refactored, give tips on how and when to start, and show how to avoid
the need for future refactoring. In the second half, the Intridea team
will introduce common Rails performance pitfalls, how to diagnose
them, and how to solve them. They also will talk about other ways to
speed up an application. This will be an interactive course; attendees
should feel free to bring their own code samples, questions, and
examples.

   Presenters:

-- Chris Selmer, Intridea partner and director of client
        solutions

-- Pradeep Elankumaran, Intridea director of research and
        development

-- Adam Bair, Intridea software architect

   When: Thursday, September 4, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30-4:30
p.m.

Where: Norris Convention Center, Room TBD
