HBA Global Expo to Honor Executives From Colgate-Palmolive, Coty and L'Oreal
at Annual Industry Awards Dinner
New Technology, Creativity, and Packaging Design Also Recognized

NEW YORK, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- HBA Global Expo will recognize top
industry executives for their significant contributions to the cosmetics,
personal care, fragrance, and well-being industries at its Annual Industry
Awards Dinner, on Tuesday, September 9th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New
York.  More than 600 top beauty professionals in the cosmetic and personal
care industry will gather to honor several outstanding individuals and R&D
team members for their work and inspiration in marketing, new product
development, technical advancement, and packaging design.
    The Product Development Executive of the Year Award will recognize Dr.
Robert C. Pierce, Vice President, Personal Care R&D for Colgate-Palmolive.
Dr. Pierce is being recognized for his technical competency, leadership,
vision, and best R&D practices. He has global R&D responsibility for Colgate's
$3.5B personal care business.  These responsibilities include support for such
well known US brands as Softsoap and Irish Spring and the global brands
Palmolive, Speed Stick and Protex.
    The Marketing Executive of the Year will be presented to Catherine Walsh,
Senior Vice President, American Fragrances, Coty Prestige.  She is responsible
for creating the vision and overall strategy for the Calvin Klein, Jennifer
Lopez, Kenneth Cole, Marc Jacobs, Sarah Jessica Parker, L.A.M.B. fragrance
Gwen Stefani and Vera Wang brands. In 2002, Catherine Walsh launched Glow by
JLo, a fragrance that single-handedly ignited the celebrity fragrance genre,
creating an entirely new category for the industry in the process.
    The Packaging Executive of the Year will be bestowed upon David Prague,
Vice President, CPD Packaging Division, of L'Oreal.  Mr. Prague is being
recognized for his powerful contributions and innovative approach to cosmetics
and fragrance packaging and design.  Mr. Prague, who holds several patents, is
responsible for the quality, innovation and total cost efficiency of all
primary and secondary elements.
    The New Product R&D Technical Team Award will be announced amongst
finalists Nu Skin's Tru Face Essence Ultra; Olay's Regenerist Micro-Sculpting
Cream; and Tarte's Vitamin Infused Lipstick and Lipgloss with BORBA
Nutraceuticals.
    HBA has partnered with Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine to recognize
outstanding companies that develop and market ingredients used in beauty and
personal care products with the International Technology Awards.  The
finalists for the Best New Technology Award are CoValence, and Symrise and
Cutech and the Best New Technology Launch Award finalists are BASF AG and
Sederma.
    HBA Global Expo has also partnered with the leading international industry
publication ICN to present the Recognizing Creativity Award.
    The Annual International Package Design Awards (IPDA) will also be
announced for cosmetics, fragrance, personal care, skin care and green
packaging.  These awards are sponsored by HAPPI and Beauty Packaging
magazines.
    HBA's Industry Awards Dinner attracts a virtual who's who in the cosmetic,
fragrance and personal care industry.  Bobbie Thomas, the NBC Today Show Style
Editor will serve as Master of Ceremonies.  The presenters include Michele
Scannavini, President of Coty Prestige, Mukul Deoras, President of Global
Marketing for Personal Care, Colgate-Palmolive, and Tony Spiliotopoulos,
Director of Operations, for L'Oreal's Consumer Products Division.
    The HBA Industry Awards Dinner takes place on opening night of the HBA
Global Expo & Conference, which takes place September 9, 10, 11, at the Jacob
