Online education resources now available to 500,000 students statewide

CAMPBELL, Calif., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- HotChalk, the first online
education resource connecting teachers, students and parents, today announced
that the HotChalk Learning Management System will be offered statewide as part
of Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) Educators' Express. HotChalk adds to
MPB Educators' Express capability to distribute a variety of digital content
to educators throughout Mississippi.
Over 500,000 public, private and home school students and their families
will be able to access materials online using HotChalk at www.mpbonline.org.
"There is a need for swift deployment of digital teaching and learning
resources throughout our nation's schools to rectify a notable lack of
adequate support for educators," stated Edward Fields, HotChalk Chairman and
CEO. "This commitment by Mississippi Public Broadcasting demonstrates a
dedication to preparing today's students to be leaders of tomorrow."
Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) Executive Director Marie Antoon
said, "Mississippi Public Broadcasting is pleased to add HotChalk to its MPB
Educator's Express service. MPB looked at a number of potential services but
HotChalk provides unique services that will help not only teachers, but
parents, students and home schooled families."
HotChalk presents a media-rich library of 3,500 teacher contributed lesson
plans and digital content including audio, video, textbook and assessment
materials. It became available to Mississippi teachers with the introduction
of MPB Educators' Express in mid-August. All content available through MPB
Educators' Express is aligned to Mississippi standards.
The new initiative also promotes parental involvement and communication
among educators, students and parents. It reinforces and directs
communication, allowing instructors to easily assign and retrieve homework,
grades, and notes online. Parents get a notification when grades are posted
and critical assignments are handed out. HotChalk helps parents stay firmly
connected to their child's educational progress and offers opportunities for
further involvement and support when merited.
