Donates $10,310 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(Business Wire)--
newdominionDIRECT.com and the Charlotte Knights presented Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte with a symbolic check at a
special ceremony before a recent game at Knights Castle.

The presentation was the climax to the second year that the
Charlotte bank NewDominion and its national online financial services
provider newdominionDIRECT.com supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Greater Charlotte, with the Knights' help. The newdominionDIRECT.com
Direct to Home Plate program provides a donation every time a Knight
hits a home run: $77 for every homer, $377 for a grand slam and $777
for a grand slam in the seventh inning. Over the program's two years,
more than $24,600 been raised, including more than $10,310 in the
season that ended on Labor Day.

"I want to thank NewDominion, newdominionDIRECT.com and the
Charlotte Knights for their tremendous support of our program," said
Tommy Barnett, Vice President of Partnership Development for Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte. "The newdominionDIRECT.com
Direct to Home Plate program not only provides financial assistance to
our organization, it also helps raise awareness of what we do to the
broader community."

Bradley Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of NewDominion, said,
"We're proud to be following the leadership of one of our employees,
Sonja Allison. It was Sonja's commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters
that led us toward the sponsorship we celebrated on Sunday."

The story of how NewDominion began its support of Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Greater Charlotte tells a lot about why the bank was named
one of the 2007 Best Places to Work in a survey conducted by The
Charlotte Business Journal and Quantum Market Research. NewDominion
was ranked 13th out of more than 200 companies surveyed in the small
business category.

The bank, which opened its doors in 2005, wanted to give back to
the community that supported its rapid growth. Rather than pick an
organization to sponsor based on other criteria, the bank's leaders
looked at the groups that their employees had been supporting.

Allison, a network administrator who joined the bank at its
start-up, had been volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Greater Charlotte since 2003. The bank's leaders knew about her
commitment to the organization. "They wanted to support an
organization that an employee was behind," said Allison, who has
worked with one little brother and two little sisters.

Allison said the way the bank's leadership selected Big Brothers
Big Sister for a major sponsorship reflects the supportive culture
they have created in the NewDominion workplace. "I wouldn't have
expected any different, with the caliber of management and how
involved they are in the community," she said.

Thompson added, "It's been a very rewarding commitment for us, and
we really appreciate the support the Charlotte Knights have provided
as our partners in this program."
