Jefferies hires 25 ex-Bear Stearns bankers

LONDON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - U.S. investment bank Jefferies (JEF.N) said it had hired 25 ex-Bear Stearns equity sales, trading and research staff to boost its global equities business in London and Frankfurt.

Jefferies International, the UK subsidiary of New York-based Jefferies -- which specialises in serving mid-sized companies -- said it had hired 12 sales traders, four traders, four research analysts and five research salespeople, including a team focused on the German market.

Among those joining are Andrew Shortland as head of international equities, Hamish MacLellan as head of international equity sales and Omar Saad as head of international equity trading. (Reporting by Steve Slater; Editing by David Holmes)
