WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine
L. Chao issued the following statement on the August employment situation
report released today:

"Today's job report confirms the seriousness of the challenges facing our
economy, including continued job losses. Many Americans are hurting right now,
and more are understandably concerned in the face of these economic
challenges. I would caution that this is no time to make matters worse by
raising taxes, returning to the protectionist policies of the past, or
imposing new regulations that will only slow growth and cause even more job
loss."
