NASCAR Sprint Cup race postponed
LOS ANGELES |
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - NASCAR's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Sprint Cup race, originally scheduled for Saturday in Richmond, Virginia, has been postponed until Sunday due to rain from Tropical Storm Hanna, NASCAR said on its website.
The decision came after the Nationwide Series race scheduled for Friday was rained out and moved to Sunday evening.
Qualifying for both events was washed out as well, meaning the NASCAR starting positions will go in order of the top 35 drivers.
The cancellation of the Sprint Cup race came further in advance than usual.
"In a way I'm kind of glad NASCAR did it this way, so that we aren't just waiting around for it to dry out," driver Carl Edwards told reporters.
