Time Domain Adds Three New Ultra Wideband (UWB) Products to its PLUS Line to
Meet RTLS Demand in Healthcare, Manufacturing, Logistics and Safety/Security
Markets
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Making the case that size does
matter when it comes to real-time location system (RTLS) tags and
reader/antennas, Time Domain Corporation, www.timedomain.com, a leader in
precision ultra wideband (UWB) (RTLS), today introduced the thinnest active
wearable UWB badge tag for RTLS applications, an externally-powered original
equipment manufacturer (OEM) tag, and a small reader/antenna as part of its
PLUS 2.0 product line. These new UWB products bring additional flexibility to
interaction-level asset visibility by broadening the types of enterprise
assets that can be precisely located and the variety of work environments
where PLUS sub-room level real-time location can be readily applied.
With a thickness of 6.8 mm, height of 75 mm, and width of 37 mm, a worker
or visitor can easily attach the vertically-oriented, LED-enabled PLUS 2.0
Badge Tag to a collar, shirt pocket, lanyard or belt. Users can verify their
arrival and status at a location or interaction with another person or piece
of equipment with the touch of a button on the PLUS 2.0 Badge Tag, which
features a four-year battery life.
The PLUS 2.0 Small Form Reader/Antenna, which measures 12 inches by 12
inches, is easily mountable on multiple surfaces in an indoor facility, such
as on I-beams, poles and flat ceilings. It is available in omni-directional
(circular) and 180-degree (semi-circle) coverage patterns and can read
thousands of PLUS tags per second through multiple walls.
The externally-powered PLUS 2.0 OEM Tag can be easily integrated into a
variety of products to incorporate the power of precise, interactive location.
From multi-mode tags, and custom enclosures to assets with built-in tracking,
the OEM Tag has multiple update rates from a few times per minute to a 100
times per second, and can use any available battery or power source for
continuous long life tracking. It is available as a printed circuit board
(28mm x 31mm) and with housing (33mm x 35mm).
"UWB excels at precision asset location and we're seeing strong demand for
this level of accuracy in number of environments including office buildings,
retail stores and logistics facilities. With the addition of these products,
our partners can now implement PLUS and precisely tag assets in virtually any
application," said Greg Clawson, vice president of sales and marketing at Time
Domain.
Unlike other RFID RTLS technologies, such as UHF, Zigbee and Wi-Fi, Time
Domain's PLUS UWB active tags emit short pulses once a second which, when read
and processed, provide inches of accuracy in zone-based, 1D, 2D and 2.5D
multi-floor environments. The short pulses deliver precise location accuracy
to the sub-room level, through walls and in environments where wiring and
metal fixtures can be problematic for other RTLS systems. With high update
rates, very long battery life and high simultaneous tag capacity, PLUS is
ideally designed for enterprise location solutions. For more information on
