Bolivia restores natgas supply to Brazil: Transierra
LA PAZ |
LA PAZ (Reuters) - Bolivian natural gas exports to Brazil were almost completely restored at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, pipeline operator Transierra told Reuters.
"Technicians have managed to resolve the problem of a valve in a pumping station, that had been blocked due to incorrect manipulation by people who tried to close it," Hugo Munoz, Transierra spokesman, told Reuters.
The government blamed the valve damage on anti-government protesters.
Earlier in the day Transierra had shut down the pipeline that usually transports 17 million cubic meters a day of natural gas to Brazil. Bolivia exports a total of 31 million cubic meters a day of natural gas to its neighbor.
Munoz said pumping had been restored to 14 million cubic meters a day. A fire at another point of the pipeline, also blamed on protesters, was still affecting about 3 million cubic meters per day of supplies.
