Army Reserve Commemorates 100th Anniversary at O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals DALLAS, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Army Reserve is commemorating its centennial this weekend at Texas Motorplex, which is hosting the O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals, featuring Army driver Tony Schumacher. Schumacher continues to rewrite the record books, having recently become the all-time Top Fuel driver in National Hot Rod Association's history. "This is a year of remarkable milestones for Army driver Tony Schumacher and for the U.S. Army Reserve," said Major General Keith Lee Thurgood, Commander, U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service and Dallas, Texas resident. "We take a great deal of pride in Tony Schumacher's success, and in our Army Reserve Soldiers, who have succeeded in the field and the workplace and served their country so well for the past 100 years." The O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals is the second chance for Countdown teams to earn points, taking place on the second of three consecutive race weekends in this crucial segment of the home stretch. "I am looking forward to cheering on Tony Schumacher this weekend as we commemorate the Army Reserve's 100th Anniversary," said Thurgood. Since the U.S. Army Reserve's formation in 1908 as a small medical unit, the Army Reserve's role within the military has expanded greatly, and has played a vital role in every major conflict and humanitarian mission of the past century.
