IHG Unveils New Club InterContinental Tower at the Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower Costa Rica
New Tower Includes the Addition of 110 Guestrooms and a Luxurious
16,000 Sq. Ft. Spa in Addition to Renovating the Existing Hotel
MIAMI--(Business Wire)--
IHG (LON:IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)), the world's largest hotel group by
number of rooms, today announced the unveiling of the new Club
InterContinental Tower at the Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower
Costa Rica. The eight-story tower features 98 guestrooms, a
16,000-square-foot spa, an oversized club lounge, all accessed by a
private lobby and reception area with private port-cochere.
With the Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower Costa Rica, IHG
is bringing a new level of luxury and personal convenience to one of
Central America's most popular destinations. Following a complete
renovation and upgrading of the hotel's original building and the
addition of the new Club InterContinental Tower, the Real
InterContinental now has a total of 372 guestrooms, as well as five
different restaurants and lounges, including Alfredo di Roma,
Azulejos, Factory Steak & Lobster, Nau and Zambra. The hotel will also
now have the largest urban spa in Central America, in addition to one
of the largest executive club lounges and presidential suites in the
region.
"We have had a great and long-standing relationship with the Poma
Family and their team at Real Hotels & Resorts, everything they
develop; they do so with precision and superior excellence. They have
done a remarkable job with this property and we congratulate them for
their outstanding work - we know this hotel will gain even more
notoriety within the region," said Alvaro Diago, Area President, IHG,
Latin America.
Significant investments were made by Real Hotels & Resorts, owner
and managing company of the property, to create the new Club
InterContinental Tower and to complete the renovation of the original
building. Today, the hotel is considered to be the most luxurious
hotel in Costa Rica. "We knew that for us to continue to stay ahead of
competing hotels in the region, we would need to create something
striking and unique," says Ricardo Poma, President of Real Hotels &
Resorts. "We are extremely proud of how this property has turned out,
particularly after the renovations and the addition of the spectacular
new Club Tower."
Although the tower will function independently from the original
building, both buildings will share the luxurious spa, the newly
renovated restaurants, and completely modernized pool and fitness
center. As well, the new Club Tower will offer the exclusive Club
InterContinental amenities, therefore offering even more upscale
conveniences such as butler service, breakfast in the Club Lounge, and
evening cocktails and canapes. All Club guestrooms will include wi-fi
technology. The original building and the Club Tower added 37-inch LCD
televisions to all of the guestrooms.
"The owners of the Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower Costa
Rica have really raised the bar with the addition of the new tower and
with the complete transformation of the original hotel," says Tom
Murray, COO, IHG The Americas. "We are very proud to have this hotel
represent the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand - we are
confident this hotel will be one of top hotels in all of Costa Rica."
The hotel is ideally situated in the capital of Costa Rica, San
Jose, and strategically located in the upscale and scenic neighborhood
of Escazu, considered to be one of San Jose's most developed
metropolitan areas. It is home to many restaurants, as well as a
variety of other chic entertainment venues. In the past few years the
region has experienced a significant influx of new foreign residents
from North America, South America and Europe.
Along with its flagship Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower
Costa Rica, IHG continues expanding its presence in Costa Rica with
recent renovations of the Holiday Inn Aurola San Jose and the 213-room
Crowne Plaza Corobici.
